INSTRUCTOR TRAINER

Maxine McLaughlin

Growing up on the water in Shelharbour, NSW, she thought she knew all there was about the water and water sports. After a spinal injury left her doing aqua aerobics in the pool with ladies who had 50+years on her, she stumbled across the world of freediving which completely changed her life. She moved overseas and eventually found herself in the Caribbean with great mentor's, learning how to share and teach this amazing sport.
Maxine has experienced the world of freediving from many angles, from training herself, training with athletes, working on underwater shoots and multiple other events where underwater safety is needed. She continuously keeps up to date with new understandings and research involving freediving and hopes to contribute to the overall safety and knowledge of the freediving community.
With a breath hold of over 5 minutes and the ability to dive to over 50m deep on a single breath, she is happiest while in the water sharing her knowledge and passion with student's across the world.

Notes From Max:

It's easy to look online and see training plans, courses and workshops which push numbers depths and times without considering the needs of the individual person. This allows us to forget how unique everyones experience is. Your fears, your thoughts, your experiences and your physiology all impact what your journey will be like.

I have spent years on my own professional and diving development and this is something that I hope will never end!
It is an extremely interesting sport, but these experiences have shown me how important the individual learning experience really is. We don't all fit into the one box, one size does not fit all and everyone learns and adapts in different ways!

I aspire to be the coach that I wish I had from the start. The one who could accelerate learning and adapt to needs as they arise. Someone who is versatile and able to efficiently share knowledge and experiences.
Everyday, I am so excited to be able to share freediving with people around the world, to help to unlock the potential of others. To show them how to use the tools they already have, then add a few more into their toolbox.

I hope to see you in the water soon!

"Maxine is not only an incredibly professional instructor, but she also strives to continuously increase her knowledge. I have seen how much she cares for her students both in the water, and through ensuring they leave with getting the most out of their course. I would recommend her to anyone planning to take a Freediving course or looking for some coaching"

Mauro Barberis

Ocean Photographer & Freediver Instructor

"Today, I am a Molchanovs W2 Instructor, and Maxine was with me as an instructor & coach throughout the entire process. I have witnessed Maxine being promoted, endorsed, congratulated, praised, and being repeatedly asked to work with the best freedivers in the world. And from personal experience, it was no surprise to see her constant rise. I recommend Maxine from Adventure Freedivers with the highest distinctions to any and all types of students. It is so rare to find teachers that care so much for their students, teachers that are so humane, and are both skilled in the discipline they teach as well as in the process of conveying the knowledge."
